Ledlenser Atex

Ledlenser provides a series of products for explosive environment — ATEX Series.

The mobile lights in the Ledlenser EX and iL series have been specially developed for use in factories where explosive gases, vapors or dust can occur. Even small pulses can trigger critical situations here – which is why electronic and electrical devices must have protection in accordance with the EU standard ATEX (ATmosphères EXplosible).

Ledlenser offers a total of ten certified lamps to provide a brilliant light for a wide range of work in the respective hazard zones. This is ensured by the patented focusing system – a first for explosion-protected lamps.

Many companies are uncertain when it comes to procuring the necessary products. “Often, company managers are not even aware that an ATEX directive applies to their company, as explosive atmospheres can only occur at their premises in the event of a possible incident,” says Alexander Isphording, Product Manager at Ledlenser. “Others don’t know which category they belong to.” The lighting experts from Solingen have therefore compiled a comprehensive brochure in which the most important criteria are clearly listed.

Working areas are divided into zones according to the frequency and duration of the explosion hazard: Zone 0/20, Zone 1/21, and Zone 2/22.

Zone 0/20: A place in which an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture with air of dangerous substances in the form of gas, vapor, or a cloud of combustible dust is continuously present for long periods or frequently. For instance, in gas tanks or grain elevators.

Zone 1/21: Working areas in which explosive atmospheres in the form of flammable gases, vapors, or dust clouds prevail occasionally.

Zone 2/22: Working areas in which explosive atmospheres in the form of flammable gases, vapors, or dust clouds for example in case of a gas leak that usually does not prevail.

What fields of application could use the ATEX series?

  • Oil and gas drilling rig
  • Gas, oil, and coal-fired power plant
  • Chemical park
  • Storage site for oil and gas
  • Petrol station and road tankers
  • Sewerage and sewage treatment plant
  • Paint shop and car repair shop
  • Pharmaceutical factory
  • Food factory
  • Distillery
  • Sawmill
  • and much more

EX Series and IL Series

2 categories of products are under the Ledlenser ATEX -Series — EX series and iL series. Both series are designed for ATEX Directives. Yet both lines – in compliance with the ATEX operating directives – are designed for different types of explosion hazards. The EX series is suitable for use in areas where explosive atmospheres are frequently present (zones 0, 1, 20, or 21) and the iL series for zones 2/22. All lamp models are suitable for the highest gas and dust groups (IIC/IIIC) and are waterproof (IP68). Thus you’ll find the perfect lamp for any environment in Ledlenser.
